“The righteous person may have many troubles . . .” Psalm 34:19
Well, there’s a way to start your day, huh?
What words disturb you?
Here’s my list:
troubles . . . hate them
many . . .are you serious?
the righteous!? . . . why?
I have to laugh. We’re often told to claim God’s promises. I’m thinking there aren’t many of us who will grab on to that one and hold on till God delivers.
But deliver, He does. The remainder of the verse says, “but the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
Sometimes, deliverance looks like 3 young men walking out of a firey furnace.
Sometimes, (ish) it looks like Jonah being vomited up by a whale.
Sometimes it’s a kind word or a sympathetic ear.
Sometimes it looks like birdsong and sunshine coming through your window the next day.
Today, my friend, I pray that you feel God’s smile.
October 14, 2021 This all still applies, but I changed my title from "I Wish "I" Had Said That" to "Lonnie Reads." I may, soon, need to shrink my library. So I am reviewing books and saving quotes. Quotes --- No Commentary. Though I'd enjoy YOUR thoughts if you happen to stop by.
Was Me. Is Me. Will Forever Be Me.
I love to learn, but can't keep it to myself.
I am a writer, though, so I know how many edits, rewrites---and hours it takes to grab a reader's attention, and then to keep it.
I will always give credit where credit is due and THEN I hope you will double my joy by visiting a library or book source and reading (or listening) to the book yourself.
A practice I've taken up recently is this: After reading a book, with pencil, I go back to read and pray through what I've underlined. It's been an incredible experience.
If a quote I share strikes a chord of your heart, I'd love it if you would test-drive my beloved habit.
EverReading--EverGrowing,
Lonnie
